They use 4 wires to control 3 lights in each bulb. The strip is sealed in some transparent substance. They are flexible. When I tested this single kit, it drew under 2 AMPS max. The 7 color mode is great, and the ability to speed it up and slow it down. Being able to choose colors is great too. Some times you need to use the remote to turn it on after plugging it in. In the pictures on the box and on Amazon, there's more on the roll, than you get with these. Each section is about 2" long, and it's 16.4 ft long. You also get some couplers, and another 12v adapter end. They are VERY BRIGHT, and they get very warm when on the coil. They have 3M adhesive on the back side, so you can mount them. I don't know if they would melt if you tried to solder the copper ends, but it says to only use the included attachments.
