I think these are great for safety at night, at parties, walking, or riding bikes. I don't know how to change the batteries for sure, and I didn't find any instructions. I assume you unscrew them on the inside. They surprised me by stretching wide enough for my boots. The color pattern is awesome, and should get people's attention. I think I'll keep these in my arsenal of night time lighting devices.
